...Home Alone !

Its interesting that we humans can feel isolated, lonely by ourselves at various cross sections, even in pretty good circumstances!
- It can happen in company of several others, with whom we have / feel limited connection or common interest.
- Presence of challenges, responsibilities, hopelessness, fears can all lead to feeling of alienation
- Surprisingly, once 'am connected to myself, the external factors become less relevant & challenging. Listening to music, enjoying a comedy, sharing notes, spending time with family, friends & pets help me connect to myself.
- Its fascinating to see some evolved souls express the joy of solitude even in a cave. Few have composed poems expressing their link to the hostel room or even a prison cell.
I guess its a reflection of my inner state whether am feeling at home ... or Home Alone !

  1. I noticed that I was following you twice! Just figuring how to do this following thing. I removed one of the Maxies. :o) I am getting to where I don't feel alone in crowds anymore-- in fact I love to be with people. It is the alone at home I still have to learn to do.

  2. I like being alone, and need my space but "lonely" is another thing. I still don't like loneliness and I still can not keep it entirely at bay; it creeps in unawares. Being with people doesn't drive away my loneliness.

I have always been detached from people, even while in a crowd and perhaps even when I was the spirit of the joy and fun, but the detachment hasn't brought loneliness. There was a time I was a wee bit perturbed by this detachment, but since I have no problems making friends or keeping them, it no longer bothers me.

I finally came to the conclusion that I'm beginning to be in the world but not of the world.

  4. Always reassuring Khushi .."..I finally came to the conclusion that I'm beginning to be in the world but not of the world" was reminded of the famous poem, beautifully captured by K J Saigal sahib Duniya Mein Hoon Duniya Ka Talabgar Nahi Hoon, Bazar Se Guzra Hoon Karidar Nahi Hoon [ Am in the world - though not longing for any thing. Have gone past the shopping - not buying any thing] Many thanks

  5. Raj,
I define solitude, or "being alone," as that which excludes all that it is not necessary for one's happiness. I find that my solitude is something I occasionally desire to relieve but always desire to resume. And, importantly, I long ago defined my solitude to include another.

Thanks again for your thoughtful and thought-inspiring observations.

    smiles,
    rb
